From Ammoudara to town by bus: what you need to know
Line 6, a ticket before you board, and an app that shows where the bus is right now.
By The Ammoudara.com team ·

Ammoudara sits right next to Heraklion, but without a car the distance can feel longer than it is. The city bus solves that, as long as you know three things.
1. Your line is number 6
City bus line 6 "AMMOUDARA" runs every day: Monday to Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Timetables are on astiko-irakleiou.gr. Line 69 (Ammoudara–Gazi–PAGNI hospital) is not running at the moment.
2. Buy your ticket before you board
Any ticket bought on the bus costs €1 more. In zone A, for example, you pay €1.30 if you buy it beforehand and €2.30 on board. If you're making several trips, the day ticket is €5 and the 24-hour ticket €6, again when bought before boarding.
3. Download the app
The official "Heraklion Urban Buses" app (Αστικές Συγκοινωνίες Ηρακλείου) shows timetables and where the bus is right now. You can also buy an e-ticket there and save the extra euro.
Going further
For other towns and villages in Crete, the intercity KTEL Heraklion–Lasithi buses (ktelherlas.gr) have their own app.
All the essentials for the area, from emergency numbers to pharmacies on duty, are on the Ammoudara: the basics page. And if you can't find something, ask Koumbaros.
Prices and timetables checked on astiko-irakleiou.gr on 28/10/2026. They can change, so check before you go.
